Journals

Saturday, July 12th, 2008

I was watching a show on the History Channel about Titanic’s sister ships, Olympic and Britannic.  They were reading the journal of a survivor.  I was pretty surprised.  Most people write journals in a pretty casual format, kind of like talking to a friend.  This journal was written in such proper English.  It even sounded like poetry.  She was describing coming back up to the surface of the water and I thought I was listening to Shakespeare.  I guess I didn’t really have a point.  I just thought it was cool.  Laterz!

Good Story

Monday, July 7th, 2008

I don’t normally post ESPN stories on my site, but this story caught my attention.  It’s about an NFL football player who saved a man’s life in a restaurant.  I was impressed at his humility and willing to help.  It’s nice to know all those guys aren’t just rich spoiled men.  It’s a good story.  I hope you enjoy reading it.  Laterz!

Happy Birthday

Friday, July 4th, 2008

Well, today is our nation’s birthday.  She is 232 years old today.  I know that 4th of July to most people means barbecue and fireworks.  I hope you take a moment out to remember the sacrifices that were made in order for our great nation to exist.  The signers of the Declaration of Independence had their lives ruined afterwards.  Many were killed or captured as traitors and most lost all their possessions or even their families.  They did this because they believed in this country.  I wonder a little bit what they would think if they saw us today.  We’ve become a great nation, but the citizens just don’t appreciate it.  Many of us won’t even stand up for something we believe in.  They gave up everything for what they believed in.  We are the beneficiaries of that conviction.  I wish you all a great Fourth.  Laterz!
