Even More Than Me!

Friday, March 30th, 2007

Okay, I’m the first to admit that I’m a geek…nerd…whatever term you want to use.  As such, I love my Star Trek.  However, this guy straight up scares me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U67CJqLUjA0.  Watch the video, then read on.  It’s okay, I’ll wait…

Okay, finished?  Good.  Is that strange, or what?  Can you imagine turning your entire house into your favorite television show?  Good thing he wasn’t a Baywatch fan.  The neighbors might have complained about all the sand and sea gulls.  Wow.  If anybody’s interested, you can probably buy it from him for a measly $900,000.  Laterz!

I’m Alive

Tuesday, March 27th, 2007

I know I’ve been silent for awhile, but I’m not still sick.  After not working for five days, I’ve just been swamped.  To top it all off, a friend of mine graduated from the Navy boot camp here in Great Lakes and her family stayed with us for a few days further making it difficult to do anything.  Well, they’re gone and I’m slowly getting my head back above water.  I’m hoping to get back to reading and posting from my Bible tonight or tomorrow as well as my regularly unscheduled postings here on my site.  I have plenty I’d like to post.  Laterz!

Victory is in Sight!

Saturday, March 17th, 2007

My fever finally broke yesterday.  I’ve been under 100 for over 24 hours now.  I haven’t had much of a headache since this morning, either.  It looks like I’ll be able to go to church tomorrow and work on Monday! :-)   It will be nice to be at church and also nice to earn an income again.  Hopefully, I’ll be back to posting random, non-health related messages next week.  Laterz!

This is Killing Me!

Friday, March 16th, 2007

Well, not literally, but missing this much work sucks.  It appears I have the flu (note to Wendy, I did use Airborne).  I went to WebMD and looked up my symptoms.  My symptoms match the flu, except for the last one:

  • Fever of 100 F to 104 F, which can reach 106 F when symptoms first develop. Fever is usually continuous, but it may come and go. Fever may be lower in older adults than in children and younger adults.
  • Shaking chills.
  • Body aches and muscle pain (often severe), commonly in the back, arms, or legs.
  • Headache.
  • Pain when you move your eyes.
  • Fatigue, a general feeling of sickness (malaise), and loss of appetite.
  • A dry cough, runny nose, and a dry or sore throat. You may not notice these during the first few days of the illness when other symptoms are more severe. As your fever goes away, these symptoms may become more evident.

I’m hoping I’m able to work on Monday and really hoping I’m able to go to church on Sunday.  I hate missing church.  Laterz!

Not Better :-(

Thursday, March 15th, 2007

Well, I’m still running a fever on and off and I have this intermittent headache that’s really bad when it’s on.  Meanwhile, I go from being really cold to being really hot.  I feel like I’m going through…well, I won’t say what I feel like here, but some of you women may understand. ;-)   It’s really weird because I don’t have any normal cold/flu symptoms.  No sore throat.  No coughing.  No runny nose/stuffiness.  Just the fever and the headaches.  Weird. :-(   Laterz!

Spring…For Now

Tuesday, March 13th, 2007

Well, we got up over 70 today…only to return to the mid 30s by Friday.  My body has always had this nasty habit…when there’s a drastic temperature change, I get sick.  I’m sure you can guess where this is going.  I came home tonight with a 102 fever.  Hopefully I’ll be well enough to go back to work in the morning.  Meanwhile, I won’t be posting my Bible study tonight.  Laterz!

Red Light Drifters

Saturday, March 10th, 2007

I just don’t get it.  Why is it that some people insist on stopping ten feet behind the car in front of them or the intersection when the light turns red, then drifting forward one foot at a time until the light turns green?  Those of you who don’t drive stick-shifts probably don’t understand why it’s a big deal.  When you have an automatic, you just take your foot off the break and drift forward.  I, on the other hand, have to put my car in gear, drive forward one foot, then put it back in neutral (or take it out of gear).  It’s a royal pain.  I just don’t get why they don’t just stop where they want to.  Sorry.  Just had to rant.  Laterz!

Simple Pleasures

Wednesday, March 7th, 2007

I know it’s a little silly, but I’m pretty excited about something that happened today:

100,000 Miles!

My car went over 100,000 miles. This is the first time I’ve ever owned a car for the entire 100,000 miles. I thought it was pretty cool. It went from 99,999 to 100,000 just as I was pulling into my driveway. I thought it was pretty cool. I figured, with my luck, it would happen on the highway at 70 mph and I wouldn’t be able to get a picture. Laterz!

Cashmir Pulaski Day

Monday, March 5th, 2007

So, today’s Cashmir Pulaski Day here in Illinois.  Yeah, I had no idea who that was, either.  However, being your faithful blogger, I decided to find out.  I always like to know why traffic is great on my way to work.  Apparently, schools and many state & local government offices are closed today.  Well, here goes the condensed version (source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kazimierz_Pu%C5%82aski):

Cashmi Pulaski was a Polish soldier who, after trying to revolt against the Russian occupation in the late 1700s, fled the country.  He ended up in France and was recruited by Marquis de la Fayette to fight in the American Revolution.  In 1777, he came to America and ended up, with the help of George Washington, creating the American Cavalry (partially funded by himself).  He fought in the American Revolution until 1779 when he was killed by a canon.

Feel free to read the long description at Wikipedia.  Laterz!

Wearing Down

Sunday, March 4th, 2007

I’m currently working on three different projects, one of which will only pay me at a future time.  The problem is that I think I’m getting worm down.  I may have to find somebody else to finish one of the projects mainly because working on it a few hours at a time (mainly during what would otherwise be free time) will take longer than I want it to.  I’m working on this one as a favor for a friend (who will pay me later) and I feel bad telling him he should find somebody else to finish.  I just think he’ll get a better site that way and it will be finished much quicker.  I hope he sees it my way and doesn’t lose trust in me.  I’ll talk to him in the morning.  Laterz!
